<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A split release with two musical projects from Serbia, both of which seem new to me. The first two pieces are by Visszajaro, a duo of Akos Czini on keyboards and effects and Laszlo Lenkes on guitar, effects, cover design, lo-fi recording and mastering (isn't that a contradiction I wondered). In their two lengthy pieces (each band has about fifteen minutes here) they mess around with guitar wailing feedback, which is kept under control, but occasionally leaps out of there and wails away into the great far out. It's noisy, it's chaotic at times, but it doesn't derail that much. It's not your standard loud onslaught noise (LON - think about that instead of HNW), but I am afraid it's also not exactly the sort of thing I was looking for.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The other three tracks are by Lezet, being Igor Jovanovic on bells, guitar and glasses (the ones you drink from I assume, not those on your nose). This I must say was more to my liking. Not just because it was less noise based, but also because it was less chaotic. His primary concern seems to be working with overtones. In two of the three pieces it deals with careful rattling of the bells against the glasses, not unlike chimes in the wind, and have a nice meditative character. On 'Tunnelling', his final piece, it's all about feedback and guitar - sound captured in a glass? - but it's an effective piece of music as such. Very nice stuff. (FdW)</div>

a note on something ironically titled “Normal Music” by Visszajáró
(László Lenkes and Ákos Czini from Serbia) and Gustavo Jobim (from
Brazil). It is an instrumental album made up of four tracks, each
nondescriptly titled “One,” “Two,” “Three” and “Four.” Each piece
carries on for just over 10 minutes each.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you can bear the first track, there are rewards on this recording,
made on synthesizers and piano. As banal as these instruments may seem,
this trio goes to extremes to create a form of <em>musique concrète</em>
recalling the work of Stockhausen. The album opens with piercing
screeches that sound like the perfect soundtrack for the climax of a
horror film that ends on a hopeless note … for 10 minutes. There is a
swirling melody in the din that grows higher and higher pitched as an
undulating chorus of din rumbles and shimmers on and on and on. For the
finale it fades away, and the tune’s only three pleasant notes on bells
close out the piece, like some twisted little gag.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If the first piece may induce headaches, the second piece offers pure
relief, though barely a melody appears. It is more an experiment in
white noise. It thrums and pulses like some hidden machinery in the
walls. Halfway through it downshifts, gradually, sounding like a trip
slowly inward and deeper into sleep. In fact, this feels like externally
induced biofeedback. It may do the trick for insomniacs looking for
some sonic assistance to relax into sleep. There are a few, rare
sprinkles of light piano trills, but always dominating is a breathy
rhythm of electronic synths.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The other tracks are similar in spirit, but also different enough to
reward adventurous listeners. For those intrigued by my description of
this experimental drone music above, here is the full album to stream

I replied with a different idea, a full collaborative record. We discussed all aspects of the project and quickly recorded these new pieces in November-December 2012. For me, Normal Music is a continuation of the ideas first shown in Symphony No.2 (2012)." - Gustavo Jobim, January 2013<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Visszajáró – Angelus Novus is a dark entertaining world that opens
up with squeaky sounds of rusted metal. A layer of Electronic warmth,
blips and crackles are comforting the ears before freakier things start
to happen. We hear a change of mood as the experimental sounds are
getting more intensive and mentally aggressive. A mashup of free based
sounds that feels like a mix of rumblings, a meltdown, a piano player
losing its mind, murderous psychopath activity and laughing labrats in a
mad scientist laboratories. Even a punk rocker is captured in this
magical field of interesting sound expedition. Bees are buzzing around
and fingers rape a stringed instrument with utter delight. This track is
so full of things and simply blows my mind. A bomb full sound recording
that speaks to the imagination and is an extreme joy to listen too.
Really awesome stuff you really should check out for yourself!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Requiem For A Signaling Device is another track by Visszajáró and
certainly excites my ears in every possible way. Some strange freaky
freak out can be heard that is even though highly experimental got the
effect of an intensive live acid tune. Its amazing how this track moves
and what can be done combining signaling sounds and a freaking wobble
sounding machinery. The extra crackles that sometimes pop up really gets
the atmosphere of a deeper depth and the warm tones are playing with my
ears. I simply love how this track is buildup and how things come and
go as we speak. This is an exciting and above all orgasmic piece of
electronic brilliance. I read somewhere that some clown wrote that
experimental music is dead, well this is proof that its absolutely alive
and well! Beautiful!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
After this brilliant set Lezet takes over with a peaceful work called
“Traffic “. Its a very nice and open composition of bell like crystal
sounds making melodies of pure sweetness. Its a calming take of music
and feels like a good massage for your brain to calm down.
Where Visszajáró took the full on stimulant of everything you could
ever think off thinking wise, Lezet really stripped this track down to
its lovely basics. No low tones, no hidden secrets or messages, a lively
track to fall in love with.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
With Hoot, Lezet takes another take to make something very
enjoyable. This track is like the previous one recorded in a very
sterile environment and the recording sound crystal clear. My ears are
massaged by seemingly random triggered glass like sounds of pure beauty.
No need for notes or melodies really as this music is so enjoyable i
keep holding my breath while listening. Love it.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The last track on this must have release is another one by Lezet.
This time it feels like the artist wants to wake you up and prepare you
for the upcoming day or night. It contains an experimental approach with
effects and an instrument i have trouble to identify. It feels like a
mixture of a flute, guitar and a synthesizer keyboard and it is taking
the volume up a bit to be sure it reaches all the corners of the
listeners brains. This is a track i would like to hear instead of a
roosters call to wake me up in the morning! It excites me and i hope it
will excites you too!</div>

Visszajáró and Lezet bring their native Serbia to life with a collection of brittle, cold compositions. Visszajáró's material is more aggressive that Lezet's, the former forging their sound experiments with guitar noise and shrill keyboard that strikes quickly and retreats. This material could easily be the soundtrack to a European arthouse horror film. Lezet takes a staid approach, accompanying more subtle guitar noise with bells and other sounds made with glass. This combination brings to mind hazy dreams of warmer days. Both artists fill their soundscapes with a cold atmosphere, removed from the normal plain of existence, but swirling very close, oddly present. This split is an excellent winter companion.</div>

naginjanja ka poznatim mestima i klišeima.
ovakvom muzikom van granica samodovoljnosti.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
